IN3D Week2 Lab2

Torn Cardboard Box
Create another cardboard box, but this time one of the flaps must be torn and hanging off, similar to Figure 1 below. Try to manipulate the vertices to get a kind of torn look.

You can select some faces and then detach then from a model by selecting the Mesh  Extract menu option. In Figure 2, you can see a corner of the cube has been extracted and then moved away (its colour has also been changed to make it more obvious – don’t worry about that). Once extracted, each part is considered a separate object – so you can then rotate and position the extracted flap so that it looks as if it is hanging off.


After modelling the old cardboard box, modelling this torn box seems so much easier, I learnt how to extract faces.


The only thing that is not perfect is the fallen piece of the cardboard box, it is not thick, and I cannot bevel it to make it have the thickness, so I just move the vertices to make it look crumpled.
