Instructions/Commands to use Maya
To allow Maya 2009 and Maya 2011 to be compatible:
- File > Open Scene
- Click on the option box next to "Open Scene"
- Check the box for "Execute script nodes" and
- Check the box for "Ignore version"
- Always save in .mb (Maya Binary)
For the different views on the object model with numbers:
- 4: Wireframe
- 5: Hardware shading (grey)
- 6: Texture/Colour shading
Controls with the mouse with the object model:
- Alt (PC)/Command (Mac) + Left Mouse Button = tumble
- Alt (PC)/Command (Mac) + Middle Mouse Button = pan
- Alt (PC)/Command (Mac) + Right Mouse Button = tracking
- Scroll Middle Mouse button = zooming
Difference between tracking and zooming:
- Tracking means moving towards an object physically, while zooming means standing at the same spot to make the image appear larger.
To allow the screen to show full image of the object model:
- View > Camera Attribute Editor
- Near: 0.00^^^1
- Far: 100^^^.0
To delete an object on the stage, press the "delete" button next to "+/=" on Mac.
Create > Polygon Primitives
(un-tick interactive creation)
F = Focus on a selected object
Spacebar = 4-view ports/toggle.
Ctrl + D = duplicate
Q: Selection
W: Move
E: Rotate
R: Scale
